Plaster Mini House Panel: Casting, Painting, and Concrete Effect for Beginners
Cast, paint, and decorate a plaster Soviet panel building from mold to finished diorama.
What you'll learn
About the course
You want to create a miniature panel apartment building, but don't know where to start: which plaster to choose, how to avoid bubbles in the casting, how to achieve a realistic aged concrete effect. This course guides you through the entire process — from selecting materials and safe pouring into the mold to final painting and assembly.
You'll learn to identify the grade of plaster that doesn't crumble (sculptural G-16 instead of alabaster), how to mix and pour correctly without voids, how to sand and prime the surface, apply a base gray color, and create volume through patination — dark wash in seams and dry brush on raised areas. Then you'll detail the windows, add balconies and micro-details, assemble the parts into a single body, and add diorama decoration.
The course is suitable for adult craft enthusiasts and miniaturists who want to make something with their own hands for interior decoration, a diorama, or as a gift. No previous experience with plaster is required — all techniques are explained from scratch and practiced hands-on.
You'll leave with a finished panel house that can decorate a shelf or be given as a gift, and a set of skills that work for any plaster castings with relief.
